Gawain is a passionate advocate of the capacity of education to empower people and develop their abilities to think critically about the world in which they live. Because of his tireless work for our union and his political outlook built around internationalism, social justice and solidarity, he’ll be getting my vote for Deputy General Secretary. I also admire his intellectual curiosity to continuously educate himself and keep up to date with pedagogical approaches and educational matters in and outside Britain. His written articles reflect that. He has a particularly respectful attitude towards women and has supported women’s role within the union.
