I have known Gawain for a number of years through the Union. I remember a march we went on in central London to Michael Gove’s office that was my first time interacting with him. I have seen his passion throughout the years as a member of the Executive. On our journey to Cuba in 2019 he was one of our leads. We had so much fun interacting and learning the life styles of the Cubans. His mannerisms and appreciation for different cultures gives the ability that there is hope for future teachers in Britain from different backgrounds.
Gawain is a hardworking union activist and has always supported our cause: women’s empowerment in the Union, anti discrimination, Black educators and a voice for us to be heard.
As the next round of elections comes around next year I have no hesitation giving my vote and endorsing Gawain as the best person fit to be the next Deputy General Secretary of the NEU.
